Program
NF International
During the summer of 2022, we will visit over 30 different places in Scandinavia to provide quality training, contribute to the development of local players and identify talents we can provide international opportunities. Our sessions are conducted with high intensity, and players will have a unique opportunity to work closely with Portuguese player developers with backgrounds from Sporting CP, SL Benfica and other top academies in Portugal.
From each event, 2 “Players of the Camp” are chosen who go on to the NF Qualification Camp, where 8 players will win a training stay at one of the world’s best academies, Sporting CP.
The coaches will also have the opportunity to hand out 2 Wild Cards from each event if there are more players they want to bring to the NF Qualification Camp.
Who is it for?
NF International is a camp for both boys and girls aged 8 to 16 who want to develop their skills and gain a better understanding of the game. We recommend all participating players to have good basic skills for their age and be receptive to learning.
To ensure the right challenge for all participants, we create training groups where we differentiate on level and age.
The Road to Sporting CP
During each NF International training camp, a total of 2 “players of the camp” will be chosen from the age categories 2006, 2007, 2008 or 2009. These will receive an invitation to and free participation in the NF Elite Qualification Camp at the end of the summer.
During the NF Elite Qualification camp, Sporting CP presents its own scout, and selects 8 players who win a training stay with one of the world’s best academies. NF Academy covers all local costs for these players. Travel costs to and from the event must be covered yourself.
Of 1300 participants in 2019, Blertun Isufi, Noah Solheim, Sahle Wålberg, Alfredo Steiner, Ingvar Kolbjørnsen and Bashir Bashiir (pictured below) were finally the selected ones who received a training stay at Sporting CP in the autumn of 2019.
Objectives of the program
NF Academy has a clear vision to contribute to the development of more international top players. Through NF International, we therefore want to create opportunities for the most talented players to be able to go all the way to a training stay at Sporting CP. August Frobenius (2003) and Nikolai Skoglund (2003) are two Norwegian players who got their first professional contract with Sporting CP when they were 16 years old, and this is also an opportunity in the future for players who excel during a training stay.
For the younger participants (8 to 12 years) who do not qualify, and players who do not qualify, our goal is to provide an evolving and social training experience with valuable learning that players can take back to their training routine to take new steps in its development.
Qualified Players 2021
We regularly publish the qualified players for the NF Qualification Camp on this page. In the meantime, you can see who qualified in 2021 by clicking the button below and see selected players in the gallery.
Methodology
We work under the principle «to teach the game by playing it». Our exercises are therefore designed to recreate the intensity and complexity players experience in different combat situations. The sessions are conducted with high intensity, many ball involvements, focus on making the right choices and giving players a better understanding of the game.
In all our activities, our priority is the development of the player. For those players who want to train regularly with NF Academy, we focus on the following:
– Intensive training designed for player development.
– Individual follow-up over time.
– Training that is adapted to the player’s level and learning goals.
– Play matches against teams that give players enough challenge to strengthen their own level.
Training groups
At our local training camps, we differentiate in level and age with the goal of creating homogeneous training groups. Each training group normally consists of 12 to 20 players + goalkeepers. An experienced Portuguese head coach will be allocated to each training group and will normally be assisted by a local coach who speaks the local language.
