City legend pays tribute to Norwegian national team captain
I love Brussels, and I feel I have had good development since I came from Stabæk in 2019. That’s why I also extended my contract until the 2025. I finished the season by starting four of the last five league games, and the goal next season is to play permanently for the A team, says Kristian Arnstad.

Top 5 League
He made his debut in the Eliteserien for Stabæk in 2019, and later that season Anderlecht came on board. They described the midfielder as one of the greatest talents in Scandinavia over the past few years.
His football career started in a green Hemning suit, and along the way Kristian Arnstad has developed into one of the leaders of the Norwegian 2003 vintage, who will play European Championship qualifiers in the Netherlands against Serbia, Ukraine and the host nation in June.
Anderlecht’s number 61 player said in an interview with the NF Academy before his A-team debut in Stabæk in the spring of 2019:
The goal is first to get a professional contract, and then play in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. In the end, I want to be the best player in the world. That’s what I work and train for every day, Kristian Arnstad said then.
Belgian football is a perfect arena for young Norwegian players who want to progress towards better leagues. Anderlecht are the most traditional club in the waffle country with their 34 domestic league titles. Their ambition in bringing Arnstad to the club was to develop him into an established A-team player within two years.
Hailed by Kompany
Anderlecht’s first two seasons have provided a lot of play for the under-21 team, with 11 goals and five assists last season. Then Kristian Arnstad came full circle towards the end of the 2021/22 season for the A-team.
The Oslo boy, born in September, praises his manager Vincent Kompany.
“I’ve made very important contributions for the under-21 team, which has performed well. Then I’ve been able to train a lot with the A team and they work every day to develop further. Kompany knows a lot of football and it is easy to see he has been a player under Pep Guardiola. I talk to him daily in a training context, and have received many good tips on how to develop further,” concludes Kristian Arnstad.”
When the pre-season starts at the end of June, Kristian Arnstad can bring the words of former City legend Vincent Kompany.
They fell in love with Kristian when Kompany surprised everyone by putting young talent in from the start against Club Brügge on 1st of May.
Exactly a year ago he was in the team against Club Brugge, but then we and him were outplayed. Then I said he’s going to have the greatest career of all the boys on the field. I stand by that, the Anderlecht manager told Belgian website Sporza.
