Work with professional portuguese coaches in one of the most successful training philosophy in the world

Work with professional portuguese coaches in one of the most successful training philosophy in the world

During the summer of 2020, we will visit more than 30 different locations in Scandinavia with the goal of providing quality training, contributing to the development of local players and to identify talents that we can offer international opportunities.

NF International sessions are of high intensity, and players get a unique opportunity to work closely with Portuguese coaches that have their backgrounds from Sporting CP, SL Benfica and other top academies in Portugal.

Why do we believe this is the best philosophy to help young Scandinavian players improvement?

Well, Portuguese academies developed Ballon d’Or players Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Figo, The Portuguese National Team won the EURO 2016 and every weekend’s you saw Portuguese players playing in top European clubs as Bernado Silva in Manchester City, Bruno Fernandes in Manchester United, João Félix in Atlético Madrid and much more successful examples.

NF Academy already receives and improve Scandinavian players that today are representing his national team, as Niklas Haugland, Kristian Arnstad, Fredrik Oppegård and much more.

The Portuguese Philosophy

When we arrange sessions we try to replicate situations that occur in games and hence expand the players understanding of the complexity of the game.

Nf Academy Coach João Plantier
In NF Academy João Plantier develops Scandinavian football players, coaches courses and lead football academy programs.

NF Academy Director, João Plantier has a long, impressive CV both internationally and locally in Portugal, and has already developed several superstars and team captains of European champions. He is UEFA PRO and has worked as head coach in Sporting academy in 7 years.

– We try to break up the game in smaller pieces, so the players get a more holistic understanding of football as a game. We want the players to become better problems solvers. We are giving them multiple challenges that they have to solve under pressure. You need a quick mind in football, not just quick feet, says João Plantier.

Another very important point is the number of hours that players train. We asked Gonçalo Nunes, Academy Director and Coach at NF Academy, about the number of hours a young footballer should put in every week.

– If you want to reach the top, you have to match professional standards from an early age. My references go back to the top academies in Portugal. In Sporting and Benfica, young players between the ages of 12 and 16 typically train an hour and a half every weekday. In addition to this, they play matches on weekends. In total, there will be a training load of about 9 hours. They should however also set aside some time to work on individual skills. All in all, a player hoping to reach the top should put in between 13 and 15 hours a week, I think, says Gonçalo Nunes.

GOALS WITH THE PROGRAM NF INTERNATIONAL

NF Academy has a clear vision of contributing to developing more international top-players. That is why, we want to create and offer this opportunity to the most talented players, to go all the way to win a stay at Sporting CP.

August Frobenius (2003) and Nikolai Skoglund (2003) are two Norwegian players that got their first professional contract with Sporting CP when they were 16 years old. And for the players that make an excellent impression at their stay with Sporting CP, a contract can also be a possibility for the future of that player.

The younger participants (8 to 12 years) are not part of this qualification. For these participants and for the players that do not qualify, our objective with NF International is to give a developing and social training experience with valuable learning that the players can take back with them to their daily training, to progress to the next level. The most talented one will be invited to join our teams in international tournaments in Europe.

NF ACADEMY MAIN OBJECTIVE IS to DEVELOP THE PLAYER

NF Academy Qualification Camp
(Name of the Player, Year), was one of the players that join Sporting CP during a week through the NF International events.

For the players that want to train regularly with NF Academy we focus on the following:

  • Intensive training designed for player development.
  • Individual follows up over time.
  • Training adapted to the level of the player and their goals for learning.
  • Play games against teams that give the players sufficient challenge to increase their level as a player.
